The SCEJ Award

The SCEJ awards include The SCEJ Award, The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Research Achievement, The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Young Researcher, The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Technological Development, The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Young Engineer, The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Women’s Activity, The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Asian Researcher and Engineer, and The SCEJ Award for Distinguished Service.

The SCEJ Award

The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Research Achievement

This award shall be granted for outstanding research pertaining to chemical engineering that has great novelty or a high level of completeness and which has been conducted by an individual or up to three associates who are full members of SCEJ and have published their research in a scientific journal. However, the research must have been published in the SCEJ journal of SCEJ.

The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Young Researcher

This award shall be granted to full members of SCEJ who are less than 35 years old as of April 1 of the award year, and have published their research pertaining to chemical engineering with outstanding originality and potential for the future in any scientific journal or proceedings. For joint research, the award shall be given to the primary researcher only.

The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Technological Development

This award shall be granted to an individual or up to five associates or developers who are engineers and full members of SCEJ or engineers who belong to companies which are charter sponsors or special members of SCEJ, and have contributed greatly to chemical engineering technology or technology used in the chemical industry.

The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Young Engineer

This award shall be granted to full members of SCEJ who are less than 38 years old upon nomination, and have achieved excellent results mainly in terms of chemical engineering technology, and published such results in any scientific journal or released the results at the SCEJ’s Annual Meeting, Autumn Annual Meeting and/or Branch Meeting. For joint research, the award shall be given to the primary researcher only.

The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Women’s Activity

This award shall be granted to women who have achieved excellent results mainly in terms of chemical engineering technology or technology used in the chemical industry. Realization of work-life balance, achievements of the system and maintenance of the environment for the Promotion of Gender Equality are also taking into consideration of winning the award.

The SCEJ Award for Outstanding Asian Researcher and Engineer

This Award shall be granted to the researchers and/or engineers under age of 45 (incl. 45 years old) as of 15th February of the year of application who have accomplished outstanding achievements in chemical engineering. Nominees should have Asian nationality and work in Asian countries except for Japan. Nominees need not be full members of SCEJ. Nominations for the Award will be accepted until 15th February 2024.

The SCEJ Award for Distinguished Service

  1. The SCEJ Award for Distinguished Service to Education
    This award can be granted not only to full members, but also to individuals who have been engaged in chemical engineering and basic education related to chemical engineering, and have achieved outstanding results. The award is granted to individuals involved in high schools, technical high schools, technical colleges or universities, and can be granted to up to three individuals for the same achievement in a joint signature.
  2. The SCEJ Award for Distinguished Service to Research
    This award can be granted not only to a full members, but also to individuals who have been engaged in work related to chemical engineering technology and have contributed to supporting research through the following activities: development and improvement of equipment and apparatus used for research; obtaining special skills; and acquiring and organizing data. The award is subjected to individuals involved in technical colleges, universities or corporations, and can be granted to up to three individuals for the same achievement in a joint signature.
  3. The SCEJ Service Award for Distinguished Service to the Society Activities
    This award shall be granted to individuals who are full members or employees of the headquarters or branch offices, including former employees and non-regular staff, and have contributed to the SCEJ’s growth through various activities, such as membership promotions conducted at the branch offices, district meetings and various committees of the headquarters.
