The Engineerfs
Qualification System for the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan commenced
in FY2006. The system features the following three qualifications.
@ |
|
|
Associate Professional
Chemical Engineer(APCE) |
| This qualification
certifies that you are adept at chemical engineering. |
|
|
Professional Chemical
Engineer(PCE) |
| This qualification is for
engineers and researchers performing operations requiring
professional expertise and applied skills related to chemical
engineering. |
|
|
Senior Professional
Chemical Engineer(SPCE) |
| This qualification is for
engineers and researchers who play a leading role in operations
that require a significant level of professional expertise and
applied skills related to chemical engineering. |
|
@ |
| Through
this system, qualifications are awarded to chemical engineers by the Society
of Chemical Engineers, Japan. A person who has passed the screening process
and test administered by the Society of Chemical Engineers, Japan can use
the qualification titles of gAssociate Professional Chemical Engineer,h
gProfessional Chemical Engineer,h and gSenior Professional Chemical
Engineerh by registering with the society. Through the utilization of these
qualifications, the society aims to achieve more recognition and interest in
chemical engineering as well as providing a fair assessment of the engineers
level of ability in the field. This standard will raise the publicfs
understanding and awareness of chemical engineering and allow for further
contribution to social and industrial development.
Additionally, in parallel with this system, CPD
(continuous learning) point system will be adopted from June 1, 2007 in
order to help engineers involved in chemical engineering to maintain and
improve their skills autonomously and continuously.
After members of the Society of Chemical Engineers
have participated in workshops, lectures, symposiums, etc. and taken CPD
(continuous learning) programs, they can obtain CPD points by registering on
our website. CPD points are added to their score for the gProfessional
Chemical Engineerh test.

This qualification acknowledges that the Society of
Chemical Engineering certifies that you are adept at chemical engineering,
and this qualification will generally help you with your job hunting. The
Associate Professional Chemical Engineer test is not currently held, but
will be so in the near future.

@Ÿ Professional Chemical Engineer (PCE) |
@
hProfessional Chemical Engineersh are engineers and researchers who have
passed the Professional Chemical Engineer test administered by the Society
of Chemical Engineers and have registered with the society, and who perform
operations that require professional expertise and applied skills related to
chemical engineering.
However, the title is only effective for a period of 5 years with an aim at
maintaining and improving the skill level of engineers.
Also, continuous learning and course participation records inside and
outside the company are required to be registered as CPD points.
A certain amount of CDP points are added to the Professional Chemical
Engineer test score.
Required abilities are to have solid expertise in at least one field of
chemical engineering, to perform operations using his/her own skills and to
give appropriate guidance to subordinates in the said field.
The test will be conducted from FY2007.
There are 12 legitimate engineering fields as shown in Table 2 below, based
on the current operations performed by chemical engineers.

@Ÿ Senior Professional Chemical Engineer (SPCE) |
@
hSenior Professional Chemical Engineersh are engineers
and researchers who have passed the Senior Professional Chemical Engineer
test administered by the Society of Chemical Engineers and have registered
with the society, and who play a leading role in operations that require
significant professional expertise and applied skills related to chemical
engineering
The title is only effective for a period of 5 years with an aim at
maintaining and improving the skill level of engineers. Also, continuous
learning and course participation records inside and outside the company are
required to be registered as CPD points.
The abilities required for a Senior Professional Chemical Engineer include
having significant level of professional expertise in one or more fields of
chemical technologies including chemical engineering; have skills for which
the general public recognizes the engineer as a specialist of the said
field; and is able to give technical guidance.
The technical fields are 12 fields shown in Table 2 below, which are the
same as for the gProfessional Chemical Engineer.h
